A clogged gutter is a roof problem

What we do on a cleaning visit
We clear the gutters and downspouts by hand, flush them to make sure the water drains, and check that the downspouts send it away from the house. While we're up there we look at the gutter itself: is it hung right, are the seams tight, is anything pulling loose. If we see a problem, you hear about it before we come down the ladder.
Fall, after the leaves and needles are down, is the time most people call. If your roof gets moss, a roof cleaning on the same visit keeps the gutters from filling right back up.

A few words you'll hear when we're up there or writing the estimate:
- Gutter sections — the trough hung along the roof edge that catches the water coming off the shingles.
- Downspouts — carry that water down from the gutter to the ground, away from the house.
- Hangers — hold the gutter to the fascia board. When they let go, the gutter sags and stops draining right.

When cleaning isn't enough
A gutter that sags, leaks at the seams, has rusted through, or is pulling away from the fascia won't be fixed by cleaning it. We install new gutters and downspouts, hung and pitched so the water gets to the downspout and away from the foundation. Where only a section has failed, we'll tell you whether that section can be replaced on its own.

How often should gutters be cleaned around Woodburn?
